today was an absolute blur. we got off to a late start because we were out so late last night at Le Queen. Pam and I went to the latin district to get some tasty street food and look at some books on the street. funny, i bought me a how to speak german book (in french) for my next leg of the trip and also a how to speak english book (in french, which i will then “reverse engineer”).

then we went to the musee du quai Branly, WHICH WAS CLOSED. stupid mondays. whatever. i got some really nice shots of the exterior, especially of that living wall. the musee is right next to the Eiffel Tower (how convenient!) and i got some cool shots of that as well.

we then proceeded to go shopping by the pompidou. fun! i bought a tie and tried on lots of clothes that i could not afford. pam bought gifts for bk and adam.

gosh. and then more. we came back to the apt. i uploaded pics. pam did laundry. we visited matt/adam/bk’s apt to drop off gifts. we visited the Sacre Coeur again because this time it was lit up and Matt was also going to be attending midnight mass. bleh. but it’s a very nice building.

and then the crazy part. it’s 11pm and pam and i have not eaten since around 2pm in the latin quarter. we’re starving and we’re convinced that we’ll have to settle for a cafe by her place on the way back. on the train ride, pam’s like, “oh my god. chinatown.” and i’m like, “oh my fucking god. chinatown!

so we do that. talk about surreal. fyi, i speak english rather well. my chinese is rather poor and my french is even worse. these people at this restaurant speak two languages. chinese and french. omg. i’m pointing, speaking chinese the best i can and resorting to broken french when i can’t figure out what the damn item on the menu is in chinese. but we made it. and it was yum. not amazing, but it was also 11pm on Christmas Eve. so that made up for it.
