i met the other Felix today.  he’s a really nice guy but he can’t speak english.  i can’t speak german.  Wolli spent most of the day translating between us and i felt really bad because i’m the foreigner and Felix seemed like he was embarrassed for not being able to communicate with us in english.  oy.  it’s really my fault.

anywho, i got my first taste of a Berliner, which is a traditional German fried pastry, essentially what we know as a jelly-filled doughnut.  delicious.  i also tried some absolutely amazing tiramisu.  the restaurant was too expensive but it had a side bar/cafe where you can sit down and order desserts and coffee, which is what we did.

oh my god, and then we went to this really small cafe for wine and cheese plates, which i really loved.  the owner is this really eccentric german dressed in a large sweater and a beret.  the space itself is small and filled with all sorts of little crafty objects and sculpted figures (made by the owner) and the menus were handwritten on these kitschy (but cute) scrolls, as if a manifesto.  gosh, it made me want to open a cafe.

i’m really falling in love with konstanz.  and wolli and [the other] felix look so happy together.  one day…
