wolli and i visited Meersburg castle today, Germany’s oldest castle built in the 7th century.  i’m always shocked when i’m reminded of how small people were back then.  travelling back in time would not be a good idea.  i think villages would charge armies at you thinking you’re a malevolent giant.

we had some food at the cafe there, located in a part of the castle that was decorated during the baroque period.  they served on the menu a traditional German pancake, which can be prepared sweet or savory.  i opted for savory, of course, with ham and cheese.  it was sooooooo good.  plus a glass of local white wine.  yum.  i took a picture, but it didn’t come out right.  anywho, it was an unleaven pancake, much in the way a crepe looks, but topped with ham and cheese, then either turned over or pressed with another hot surface to make the cheese crispy.  the result was this deliciously soft and crispy cheesy meaty sensory overload.

i think i need a cigarette.

so yeah, it’s about 7:30pm here.  that was a few hours ago.  felix and wolli’s friend ane(sp?) are going to join us for dinner, which is this french raclette.  we’ll see how that goes…
